CWU Holds Ceremony to Welcome New Postgraduate Students



China Women’s University (CWU) held a ceremony to welcome students at the start of the new academic year on September 10.

Chairperson of CWU Council Li Mingshun, President Liu Liqun, vice president Song Shengju, Liu Meng and faculty members of CWU attended the event. Off-campus mentor Jiang Yue’e, who served as former director of the Department of Rights and Interests at the All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF) and vice-chairperson and secretary of the China Association of Marriage and Family Studies (CAMF), was also invited to attend. Vice-President Song Shengju presided over the meeting.

The ceremony kicked off with the Chinese national anthem. In conjunction with Teachers’ Day, President Liu Liqun sent her best greetings to all teachers. On behalf of all faculties and students, she gave a warm welcome to the new students. At the event, Liu made a review of the university's history, introduced the development of postgraduate education and pushed forward new requirements for the latest batch of students. Finally, she hoped all the students could study hard, master the learning methods, apply their knowledge and to be honest and trustworthy. Jiang Yue’e, as a representative of the off-campus mentors also made a speech. She said that graduate students should make good use of their mentor as their think tank, enhance their communication with classmates, and start their new campus life with a positive attitude. Graduate student Ye Meijuan, on behalf of the class of 2014 shared her learning experiences of CWU and expressed her best wishes to the freshmen. New student representative Li Mengqi delivered a speech and read the “Commitment of Complying with Academic Morality Regulations for Graduate Students”.

In order to enhance the sense of belonging and honor, school leaders and off-campus mentors wore school badges for new students. There are 45 new postgraduate students this year. Among them are 42 studying social work and the other 3 students are in accounting.
